Most states allow civilians to carry a taser gun without any restrictions as to their use or where they may be carried. Other states may allow you to own and carry and a taser, but may include some restrictions, such as not allowing them on public school grounds or requiring a gun license. The legality of taser guns depends on the state in which you reside--most states consider them legal. RK Defense recommends that taser gun owners only keep them around the home for personal protection until they become aware of all applicable state and local laws. It will actually depend upon which state or city you are having your stun gun or taser device with you. Here are some states or cities where stun guns or taser devices are illegal.
States where all stun devices including TASER are illegal:

* Illinios
* Massachusetts
* Michigan
* New Jersey
* New York
* Rhode Island
* Wisconsin
* U.S. Virgin Islands
Cities where all stun devices including TASER are illegal:

* District Of Columbia
* Philadelphia, PA
