Civilians have an affirmative right of defending their own lives. This right may entitle the use of weapon, such as a Taser gun, for acts of self-defense. Citizens have the right to stop an attacker, and a Taser gun is a proven, effective strategy. Taser guns can render a violent attacker incapable of causing harm. Laws governing self-defense vary based on where you live. Some states have enacted specific statutes regarding self-defense weaponry like the Taser gun. For example, some states restrict citizens from carrying them in vehicles and public places. Additionally, many citizens might not obtain the proper training to operate the weapon responsibly. Taser guns de-escalate violent situations without the use of deadly force. Classic self-defense strategies--such as pepper spray--rely on an attackers pain threshold, therefore have a higher rate of failing to stop the attack. Furthermore, pepper spray and firearms have must rely on smaller target zones to be truly effective. Taser guns have a much broader target range. On One Hand: Self-Defense Tactics
