Help answer this question below.
Beer is best served cold (usually), so when you know you'll be wanting some cold ones soon, put them in the freezer ahead of time. Usually anywhere from 20 to 50 minutes will be enough, depending on the starting temperature of the beer and how cold you want it to be.
The downside of cooling beer in the freezer is that beer does not usually contain enough alcohol to prevent it from freezing. So be careful that you don't leave the beer in the freezer too long--beer slushies are no good, and neither are cans or bottles breaking in the freezer compartment because the molecules expanded when they froze.
Although putting beer in the freezer to chill it is more effective than putting it in a refrigerator, caution is necessary to avoid frozen beer. To be absolutely sure that the beer won't be forgotten, set a timer for anywhere from 20 to 50 minutes.
