How do you change an ink cartridge in a printer?

    My printer is a new one (Epson Stylus D92) not an old one and I have followed the instructions on the supposed instruction manual which is a sheet of paper with pictures, no written instructions.

    Both red and green lights are on but I don't know what this means except new cartridge, which I have just replaced, so what now?

    The computer is telling me to "replace cartridge" but I have just done this.

    On the older HP printers such as the 900 series, g, v, and k, the ink #s are 78 color and/or #15/45 black. On the front panel an indicator will light. Open the lid and the CARRIAGE will move to the center. Lift the two GREEN lids to the rear. Gently pull the cartridge forward and straight up and out.. Replace the cartridges in the same way in reverse. Color is on the left and black is on the right. Color is larger. The two cannot be reversed. Close the lid. The CARRIAGE will move to the right and the printer will reset. The DEFAULT message on the panel reads "ALIGN CARTRIDGES" or the current date/time will be displayed. I have never found it needed to align ink cartridges.

    -Take old cartridge out.
    -Unpack new cartridge.
    -Take a break, maybe fix yourself a Martini
    -Place new cartridge in place of old one.
    -Pollute neighbours garden with old cartridge.
    -Kill your parents.
