    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Benedetto Cotrugli is the true inventor of double-entry bookkeeping, although the Italian monk Luca Pacioli is often credited for the invention. Cotrugli's manuscript, "Of Trading and the Perfect Trader," included a chapter describing many features of double-entry bookkeeping. Although the work was not published for more than a century, Pacioli gives Cotrugli credit for originating the double-entry method.
