I just found out about a treatment in the US for autism spectrum disorders that works with the middle ear - apparently has great results. Better results when used with a young child, but still some results on adults. I'm sorry I don't know what it is called - would you like me to find out from my friend who has used this therapy with her child?

I have an autistic nephew. We have found it useful to convert what may seem to be "between the lines" stuff into concrete clues (like certain facial expressions, etc) and make lists of situations he was in in which such similar motions had similar meanings and help him look for the connections between that situation and others that "read" the same way. But this is a lot of work for him and his parents, undertaken because his developing the best social skills possible is one of their greatest prioities.

Great question. You could try working with a therapist or life coach to develop that ability. I would think it would take a lot of practice and feedback.

Also letting people you are interacting with know that you are dealing with Asperger's, and that they need to be more literal and obvious with you bcs you won't pick up on everything.
