  • People can plant evidence to make it look like some one else commited the crime.
  • A staged crime scene is one in which evidence has been moved or changed in order to change the impression of the type of crime, the perpetrator or the motive for the crime. For example, a husband kills his wife in anger, but takes her watch and jewelry and rifles through drawers to make the scene appear as though it was a robbery gone wrong. By changing the initial impression of the motive for the crime, the husband hopes to eliminate himself from suspicion.
  • A crime scene that has been tainted or compromised to look other than it really was when the crime happened.
  • A staged crime scene can be of many types. Such as the one that answered the question already. However, in my son's case, a murder can be "staged" to look like a suicide. I believe that the police used excessive force and when they realized he was close to death, they placed him in the chain of the swing set.
  • A staged crime scene is made by the actor to attempt to "fool" CSI and Police into believing it was a suicide, B&E, etc....
