According to the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, muscular strains and skeletal issues may cause pelvic pain. Heat therapy, massage or relaxing exercises may treat it. You may have dull, continuous or on-and-off pain, or you may be in pain when you move if it is related to an abdominal strain, according to PhysioRoom.com.
Lower pelvic pain can be a sign of serious conditions such as ovarian cysts, fibroids, endometriosis or pelvic inflammatory disease. If your pelvic pain correlates with phases of your menstrual cycle, intercourse or urination, it may be from another cause, according to the Mayo Clinic. Also, if you have symptoms such as fever, an urge to urinate or vaginal bleeding, then look for other causes. Keeping track of the type of pain, time of day and activities that worsen it is recommended by the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
If you have a known abdominal strain and the lower pelvic pain is your only symptom, then they are probably related. However, if pelvic pain is accompanied by other symptoms such as bleeding or fatigue, the pelvic pain could be related to another issue. Also, if pelvic pain is worsened by activities such as intercourse, then suspect another cause.
