    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

According to Colgate, a partially erupted tooth may cause perocoronitis (bad breath), because flaps of gum can catch food particles and trap bacteria. However, this usually goes away once the tooth fully erupts. Proper brushing of the wisdom tooth area helps prevent this from occurring. Antibiotics can treat an infection around the wisdom tooth.
