Question

Help answer this question below.

In motorhomes, how are seatbelts made for passengers sleeping in the bunk-beds while the RV is in motion?

I'm afraid that if a motorhome crashes, then any passenger in bed would be the most vulnerable unless there was a bed-seatbelt.

Where can I find bed-seatbelts for motorhome beds?

You can buy after market belts and put them in yourself.

As for commercial, professionally installed belts for such purpose? I don't think there are any.

However, state laws vary on whether or not people have to be restrained in the "house" area behind the driver's cab. It's best to check local laws on this to find out if you're going to be traveling in an RV.

This came from one forum I found:

"Most states vary in there laws, In some states behind the drivers seats (House area) do not require belts. as a matter of fact drinking alcohol there is Okay also... Each state that requires belts will have different ages, heights and weights for child seats belts etc. They were trying to pass a new federal regulation getting rid of the age/weight requirment for booster seats. the height was figured at 4'9" to be able to wear a regular belt without a booster seat. I realize motorhome only have lapbelts in the rear. I dont know where that is going to come in to play."

"Anyways, each year AAA puts out an excellent book about rules of the road in each state. I am unable to look it up in my copy becuase it is at work. your local AAA could get it for you or a lot of Police Depts. will have them available."

One person in that same forum talked about a site called gotbelts.com, where he obtained belts with hook straps to use on beds.

In the event of a minor crash bed belts would be a good idea. They would stop a sleeping person from becoming a projectile. You can find all kinds of aftermarket belts and mounting hardware at SeatBeltPros, decide which style best suits your needs and install them yourself. Here is a link that will take you there ....
