    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Manic depression is also known as bipolar disorder. There are two stages, the overly-high "manic" side and the overly-low depressive side. Hearing voices is not one of the symptoms of manic depression.

Nope. Hearing voices is a symptom of being human.

We use our senses to find out what is happening in the world around us. And we do that all the time.

To do it we often need to interpret what we see and hear, paying special attention to things indicating danger ('lions in the grass') or other people (we are social beings), And that is where we sometimes go wrong and hear (or see) someting that is not there.

Have you ever travelled by train ? and noticed the sound of the wheels on the rails "tja-tja-tho-tja tja-tja-tho-tja tja-tja-tho-tja tja-tja-tho-tja tja-tja-tho-tja tja-tja-tho-tja". It is absolutely senseless, but at the same time it is also very regular and unlike natural sounds. Voices are regular too, and suddenly we hear it: "Chattanoga, Chattanoga, Chattanoga, Chattanoga, Chattanoga, ...". I know we are going to Chattanoga to visit grandpaw, why is someone telling me ?

There was no voice, but our brain turned the sound of the wheels into one in its attempt to make sense of what it was hearing.

Have you looked at the night sky and seen the star pictures ? Orion, Taurus, etc. Those pictures are not there either, just stars and our minds trying to understand them as someting meaningful.

The Chinese look at the night sky too, the very same sky we look at, and they too see pictures there, just like us. But the pictures they 'see' are totally different from the ones we 'see'. A different culture teaching its people to see different pictures on the same sky.
