Benefits of workplace ethics programs include an improved work environment, establishment of clear-cut rules that can be referenced in problematic situations, retention of high-quality employees, and improved levels of trust and loyalty from business partners and clients alike.
According to a National Business Ethics Survey conducted by the Ethics Resource Center, 1-in-3 employees believes that by reporting ethical violations, he will be viewed negatively by both peers and supervisors. Low-level employees report little concern for workplace ethics in comparison with middle or upper-level employees, suggesting that employees on the bottom rung have issues that aren't addressed by workplace ethics programs.
