According to PCMag.com, the Fujitsu U820 Lifebook comes preloaded with the Windows Vista operating system. Windows Vista is a newer operating system than Windows XP, therefore the Windows setup will not allow you to install an older version of software on top of a newer version. However, PCMag.com's David Karp notes you can wipe out your hard drive and install Windows XP.
