    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Government employees are prohibited from giving or soliciting contributions for gifts from their subordinates or superiors. They cannot accept gifts from employees who receive less pay. Exceptions include: gifts costing less than $10 for such occasions as birthdays or souvenirs from a trip, beverages shared in the office or hospitality in an employee's home. Special or infrequent occasion gifts are permitted.
