When a team has an individual with an outgoing intimidating personality they can affect how other people will perform or react in group situations. If they bring negativity to the group, the performance of the group can suffer. Other team members may become negative and not be as productive.
To effectively manage team dynamics, a supervisor has to have consistent communication with the team. Everyone needs to know the team goals and individual goals as well.
The supervisor or manager needs to make sure everyone understands their role within the team. If there is a dispute over duties and tasks, it can affect how the team performs.
A manager needs to recognize all of the forces of team dynamics and how the team is affected. Any thing negative needs to be addressed and phased out.
Team building activities are good tools for effectively managing team dynamics. Some people will develop friendships with certain people. Team-building activities provides everyone with a chance to work and associate with other team members. This has the tendency to tear down barriers walls.
A supervisor may consider changing the layout of the office. Certain layouts can separate employees from the entire team and prevent the team from coming together as a cohesive unit.
