    The idea of spot toning applies to building muscle, not to losing fat. When you work out muscles, that changes the structure(micro-tears that need repair) and metabolism of those specific muscles resulting in increased strength.

    Losing fat results from a change in overall body metabolism, affected by factors like calories consumed and glucose levels.

    To lose that fat, get cardio, (but don't ignore strength exercises - muscle takes more energy to maintain than fat, so increased muscle mass increases metabolism). Fat burning zones are misunderstood, so ignore those too.

    Interval training is great. It trains your heart to adapt to changing intensity better, and it allows you to work at high intensity, but alternating high and low intensity intervals allows you to keep up intensity for longer.
