    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Little League Baseball was started in 1938 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania by oil company clerk Carl Stotz and his friends George and Bert Bebble. They organized a baseball league for pre-teen boys using shortened baselines. From 1941 to 1946, the Little League expanded to 12 leagues, all within the state of Pennsylvania. It wasn't until 1947 that the first team founded outside of Pennsylvania was established, in the town of Hammonton, New Jersey.
