Most areas have some free tax help for folks and you can try that but before taking the issue to a tax professional weigh the cost versus the benefits. Tax preparers are typically expensive. Is it worth paying one?

type in Taxpayers Advocate/ State and they will tell you free either in person or on phone...all the info is right there as to what you do...it works and they are there to help you....they helped me get mine back...took a little while but it was complicated but not a long as it would have I not used them to get it back.....
Let it go and do a better job next time.
