According to Time magazine, people traditionally wear black and dark colors in the fall and winter. Miss Manners says people begin to wear pastel colors on Easter, to mark the change of seasons, and continue to do so until Labor Day. The Emily Post Institute states that wearing white 365 days a year is now acceptable. Therefore, you can infer that wearing black or dark colors at any time of the year is also now acceptable. It is no longer necessary to wear light-colored clothing to keep cool in the spring and summer, as air conditioning regulates indoor temperatures quite well. Miss Manners points out that there are no "Fashion Police" to enforce the tradition of pastel clothes for Easter. You may wear black if you wish. Lighten up the look by wearing only one black piece of clothing and white or pastel colors for the rest of your ensemble.
