Help answer this question below.
Even many pit bull advocacy organizations, such as The Real Pit Bull, concede that the breed has a strong prey drive, can be aggressive toward other dogs and is unlikely to back away from a challenge. In his article "Scared of Pit Bulls? You'd Better Be!" Brian C. Anderson claims that pit bulls and pit bull mixes have been responsible for more than one-third of the fatal dog bites in America since 1979. Breeders often describe the natural temperament of a pit bull as being people-friendly and comical. Pit bulls are considered a stable breed whose personality can be ruined when trained to be something they are not---ferocious guard dogs. If this is true then it can be surmised that poor treatment or training of pit bulls may create an unstable temperament. Most breeders and canine professionals characterize pit bulls as friendly, devoted dogs who must have strong, devoted guardians who know how to de-escalate unwanted behaviors through proper training and socialization. Pit bulls that do show signs of aggression, such as growling when food dishes or toys are touched, should be referred to professional dog behaviorists before problems develop fully. Wow- this is a prejudiced answer! This says it is a "researched" answer and only gives ONE source. Show me how you researched this and give more than one source and I'll start to listen to you. If you will take one thing as proof, read my book on the subject, "A Brief History of the Pit Bull in American Society".
