    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

An anti-gravity chair, which is sometimes called a zero gravity chair, is a highly adjustable recliner that is designed to create a sense of weightlessness and extreme comfort.

    Anti-Gravity as a Fact

Scientists have never identified any method of counteracting or eliminating the force of gravity, and so genuine anti-gravity doesn't exist outside of science fiction. When people use the term "anti-gravity," it is invariably a technical misnomer.

    Anti-Gravity as an Illusion

It is possible, however, to create the illusion of anti-gravity. For example, astronauts orbiting in space are in free fall, which simulates the effect of anti-gravity. Floating in water also can simulate the effect of anti-gravity.

    Common Problems with Chairs

Most chairs do not support the user's body 100 percent evenly. They usually have pressure points that can become uncomfortable over time. This is particularly obvious for chairs made of rigid materials, such as wood.

    Recliners

Recliners were invented to address this problem. A recliner can be adjusted to support much more of the body than a typical chair, considerably reducing the pressure that normal chairs put on body parts such as the buttocks, shoulder blades and elbows.

    Anti-Gravity Recliners

No precise distinction exists between a conventional recliner and an anti-gravity recliner. Anti-gravity is simply a popular marketing term for recliners that supposedly can be adjusted so perfectly that the user ends up feeling weightless within them.

An anti gravity chair (or zero gravity chair) is a highly adjustable chair which is designed to support the structure of the human body extremely well, creating a sense of weightlessness and comfort. They come in an array of styles and prices, and these chairs are often featured in furniture show rooms for people who want to test them out. As with other pieces of ergonomic and specially designed furniture, a zero gravity lounge chair must be properly adjusted to be effective. It is possible for the chair to be poorly adjusted, resulting in discomfort to the sitter.

The majority of zero gravity lounge chairs are designed to be set in a variety of positions. Users can recline at several angles, sit upright to work, or even lean forward to focus on various projects. In all of these positions, the settings of thechair are intended to support the weight of the body, reducing pressure on the spine and ribcage and keeping the sitter in a state of comfort. By reducing pressure on the body, a zero gravity lounge chair can also be helpful for people with back pain or other physical discomfort.
