If you answer questions with non-helpful, not useful answers like, "I don't know. Sorry", do you understand that it looks like a very lame effort to get unearned points?

    i know what you mean jodie but i think they would get down rated rather than rated up

    That's a good way to get a down rating. If you don't know, you shouldn't answer. It doesn't make sense.

    I like to go to unanswered questions periodically to see if I have an answer. Sometimes I don't but I feel that the question should be answered so I'll answer it with an I don't know type answer to get it back on the board for consideration. In such a case I don't expect to receive points and don't care if I do or not. Sometimes a person will ask me to look at a particular question for one reason or another and I won't have an answer so I'll say that as an answer. I don't expect points in that case either.
