Help answer this question below.

if my husband was born in 1969 and i was born in 1977 how come only one of us was born in a leap year?

    Neither of you were born on a leap year. The closest leap years to yours were 1968 and 1976, respectively. Leap days are introduced into the Gregorian calendar (the calendar in used today) because one actual revolution of the earth around the sun takes 365.2425 days. Leap day is actually a correction of the calendar.

    Leap years have been the years the U.S. elects her president. However, 1900 being an election year, was not a leap year. A great explanation is found at:

    Neither of you was born in a Calendar leap year. Leap years occur every four years, in years which can be evenly divided by 4. Since the "leap day" isn't added until the end of February, the dates before February 29 in a given year actually don't "skip" a day until the following year. In other words, 1968 was a Leap Year, but Leap Day (the added day) wasn't until Feb 29. So for the next year starting Feb 29, every date will skip a weekday from the year before. If your birthday was on a Monday in 1967, it will be on a Wednesday in 1968, UNLESS your birthday is before Leap Day. So in effect the Leap Year actually starts Feb 29, 1968 and ends Feb 28, 1969. Your husband may have been born between Jan 1-Feb2 8 of 1969. The other possibility is that you may have been born before Feb 28, 1977, in which case you were born in a Leap Year.
