One of the challenges of traveling by plane is knowing what you can bring onboard. Fortunately, Spirit Airlines has simple rules and fair exceptions, all in accordance with Transportation Security Administration law, to make your flight comfortable and safe. Spirit Airlines allows passengers to bring one carry-on bag no bigger than 24 x 16 x 12 inches--the size of a small to medium suitcase--and one additional item such as a briefcase or purse. These items must fit in the overhead compartment or beneath the seat in front of you. Spirit Airlines allows extra items such as coats, wheelchairs, strollers, diaper bags and cameras without counting them as additional baggage. The TSA allows each passenger of any airline to carry one 3.4 ounce bottle of liquid onboard, enclosed in a clear zipper bag. Urgent medications, breast milk and baby formula are exceptions; declare them to security for inspection. If you are bringing a child onboard, you can bring your own car seat at no additional charge. If you bring a musical instrument with you, it must be 24 x 16 x 12 inches to qualify as a carry-on item. If it is larger, you must purchase a separate seat for it, and it cannot block the aisle or exit. Transportation Security Administration: Make Your Trip Better Using 3-1-1Carry-on Bags
