Question

Help answer this question below.

Lately there have been comments on AB like "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen". What ever happened to "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all"? Do you agree with both, neither? Why?

well in any social setting you will be criticized, like it or not, I hate people being rude but I don t let it chase me away either. If I can t take a little
opposing oppinions a certain day, then I don t answer any questions that day. I wont let myself be too offended by some one who dosen't even know me !
(you can not be thinn skinned in any social setting)

If you don't have anything nice to say, then say whatever it is you DO have.

I think people are too worried about hurting other people's feelings around here. I mean, seriously, it's not like being insulted by your mother. These are comments from complete strangers who only know you by what you write on AnswerBag (which is not necessarily indicative of how you are in the outside world).

I think it's true, if you're going to make a statement and call it fact, then you'd better be able to back it up and not run away crying when someone asks you for clarification.

I think it's good to be able to agree to differ. In any society there are going to be a number of differing attitudes and opinions. It's unrealistic to expect everyone to agree but it is unnecessary to be pety and small minded with each other also.

Things will settle down again, I hope.

Well, those two "slogans" aren't meant for a single situation.

The "Stand the heat" is the position of "Taking heat" from say an angry customer, or a manager or boss. Or maybe the job is stressful and such. Same thing applies.

Now "If you can't say anything nice" Well, what would you say about a person who just kidnapped a 10 year old girl, raped her repeatedly and then killed her.

Yes, this is an extreme example, but nobody is going to say "Oh, but he really wasn't all bad" or stuff like that. They'll happily volunteer to pull the switch on the scum.

BUt there's those like in the car sales industry, lawyers, production managers or in general, people who do something we get huffed about and so we then send a message their way or through someone leses mouth.

"Did you hear Lisa at B&B blows the manager after lunch??" That's low class, but if it's true, then it's neither gossip, nor nice, but just what truly was going on.

So, that's my answer..MY fingers are tired now from answering your silly...Foolish...Idiotic question...But I care about you..No..Yes...No...YES...somewhat...OK.

Neither. I think that if someones got something to say, let 'em say it, but people shouldnt let it get to them.

I think the purpose of Answerbag is: a) To give people chance to ask questions about whatever they want to get answers to, advice about, etc., and b) for people to give answers, advice, etc., to people that ask questions.

I don't think there's any reason for people to be abusive to each other on AB. We all have questions, and if someone has got answers or advice to give to others, then they can share that knowledge, advice, etc. with them.

Giving people abuse on AB isn't necessary, imo.
