Help answer this question below.
Because not all humans believe they are born equal. A sad, but true fact. If you don't believe something, you cannot support it, and cannot immerse yourself to love people equally.
I believe all men, women, and children are born with equal rights and responsibilities. However, I believe this changes and they grow and experience the world. Although they may be born equal, two twin brothers from the same house, school, college, and upbringing may turn out very different. One brother may have a positive attitude on life, and embodies the core aspects of humans being that we respect and value.
The other brother may embody those characteristics that people shy away from, such as gluttony, criminal activity, and laziness. When these two people are compared, it is difficult to say they are equal on the same system of measurement. This brother may begin a chain, where he treats others unequally to himself for some insane reason, and subconsciously work to shatter the belief the all humans are born equal.
Humans may persist with this belief, because they are trying to passively change the world to one more suited to their own beliefs, but truly lack the initiative to go and do something about it. They may support this belief in order to make themselves feel like a better person, or because they believe that it is just the right thing to do.
I don't think it is supposed to mean "same". We have different talents...I am not equal to a great singer or dancer or actress or author in terms of ability/creativity. I think what is meant is that we should have equal access to what is possible for us and not be prevented from achieving our best because of skin color or social status or anything extrinsic. That's how I interpret it! :)
The statement 'All men are born equal' is not meant to be a statement of fact when considering individuals. Individuals are unique and some are better/ worse than others in one aspect or another. There's no denying that but that is besides the point here. The principle of all men being born equal is a point of departure that guides and informs the way a government enacts laws and treats it's citizens. So they don't make unfair discriminations and distinctions based on things like race, ethnicity, creed, gender and social status.
The idea is not simplistic. It doesn't mean that all people are born to be 6 ft tall.
It means that every human has the right to be treated equally with all other people.
This is an ideal and we humans may not be advanced (evolved) enough to achieve this level of society. But it the minimum standard for enlightened society.
Are we there yet?
Because we are all born equally. We come out into the world thru the same place and we are all naked at birth. If that doesn't make us equal, I dunno what does
All men are born equal, but some men are born more equal than others.
all men are born equal but human nature is to strike each other down, its how people are wired
It means that all men are born with equal rights. Which people are designating as sub-humans who do not have basic human rights?
We ARE all BORN equal. We deserve the same opportunities and humane treatment as everyone else. We all have our different strengths and weaknesses, but that does not make anyone more or less deserving.
All humans are born naked and helpless.
What's the problem with comprehending that?
we are all equal as humans...but all different in a 'mind' ,personality, sense.....
in other words, just because a person is poor or rich, black, white or brown, uneducated ,college educated, does not matter....all are people ,human, and should be treated as such......I hate it when people say 'he is a good person, went to college, made alot of money,etc.'...i know just as many who never finished school, worked hard, provided , that are just as good as them ,maybe better, any day of the week.....
born equal means TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD WANT TO BE TREATED.....
I suppose the case can be made that all are "born equal" since a baby just born can not contribute anything to the economy. We are all equally incompetent at birth.
If your source is the quote from the American Declaration of Independence "created equal," I believe the concept refers to equal intrinsic worth - not equal ability, not equal talent, not equal outcomes. I am pretty sure this comes from the biblical concept of humans being created in the image of God. The founding fathers' understanding of the Bible was the source of the Declaration of Independence assertion that "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights." The New Testament more than once insists there is no difference (before God) between Jew, Greek, barbarian, slave, free, etc. and speaks of the gospel going to all nations. When these things were written, people were obviously not treated equally under Jewish or Roman law and this was (and continues to be) a difficult concept for many.
we are all born equal untill money divides us
I know, right? I can't believe they ever let those niggers free. Some (white) people are just born 'better'.
Well its meant to give us a sense of hope and change our views of heart to make us not only feel better but to be seen as better by others thereby finding acception.
not all have the same genetic makeup...nor predisposition to illnesses....
Those who are of lesser status insist that everyone be treated equally. It's to their benefit. That is, until they achieve superiority. Then all bets are off.
Our American political system gives every voter one vote. They count the same. So politicians will pander to those lower on the totem pole by declaring all people to be equal.

Why do humans mistake consequence for punishment? God need not punish you when consequence is all the punishment you can handle.

You're reading Why do we as humans persist with the belief that 'all men are born equal'? --When that is clearly not the case?

So a guy born into a rich house has can achieve just as a guy born into a poor no-house-at-all in a third world country, as long as they both have an extremely positive outlook?
