its a science, art is platonic, science follows a pattern, calculations are made, observations are taking trends are set and this is economics, all this is used to provide indexes, spennding trends, to calculate what comoditys will go up and or down

In theory it should be a science. However, since just about everyone has an economic interest in something, it has become little more than the art of selling some economic system that will benefit the economist. It is very difficult to be objective about something that will affect your paycheck.
