The government's recommendations on what is healthy for you to eat are based on lobbying from the big food companies, like General Mills, rather than on any actual science. Google "What if it's all been a big, fat lie?"
Better in what way? I need more information before I can really say anything intelligent about this.
The only comment I can make right now is, better start packing your own lunch.
Wow,that's bad.
People need to shut the f*ck up and take some d*mn responsibility for their own kids.
For cryin' out loud, if people out there think that school lunches have been something to EVER write home to Mom about, I've got news for them: wake up and smell the pizza! And I've got decades of experience to back it up, too.
Yeah, I had school lunches available to me from grade school to high school...but you know what? I ALWAYS had the choice of packing my OWN lunch. And my favorite? Peanut butter and jelly. Bugger everything else. I was a kid. I could eat anything on the face of the planet and turn it into the raging fires of pure energy, which I consumed at a voracious rate all day long.
The hot meals at grade school were a small serving of meat, veggies, some fruit, and milk. It wasn't a T-bone steak, baked potato, and fresh picked, steamed green beans, fruit, maybe a desert like cookies or pudding. It wasn't a 5 course meal. It was something the kids could be served and eat within a half hour or so lunch period. And then there were the simple bag lunches you could get, with a cold meat sandwich and the like.
Junior high and high school had a cafeteria with cafeteria style foods served. No frickin' BBQ brisket or roast duck. We're talking hamburgers, ham, chicken, pizza, and so forth with corn, green beans, salad, fruit, milk, and the like. And dessert. Or you could get a bag lunch. Again, something quick and easy to serve and eat in the time allotted. I never saw anybody cooking up a pig with an apple stuck in its mouth for us.
Granted, many of these meals aren't the best when compared to what people COULD have. But I've eaten lunch MANY times with my kids over the past few years...and I certainly wouldn't call their school lunch menus to be BAD, nutritionally.
People want better meals for their kids? Pack their d*mn lunches and save the lunch money.
But don't be too upset when you find out later that they're trading their fruit for their buddy's school pizza or hamburger later on. Or their pudding or cookies. Because that's what kids do.
I say grow your own food and don't listen to another word Big Brother tells you. You were born with a mind, use it.
They must serve pretty awful school lunches where you live.
the further you get from nature, the worse it usually gets. we are organic and will NEVER be machines therefore more processing = less true nutrients, even in concentrated form it just cant possibly do you as much justice, contrary to common belief. goverment doesnt care about you. they care about your money. so you find a way to capitilize on fresh soy beans grown in asia or some shit and then they will gladly support that shit in your local school cafateria. greed is the source. its going to kill you from the inside or out.
Because some food from fast food places are good. & from school they're bad cause their refrigerated and they sometimes save the food for the next day!
What kind of fool would believe anything their government says anyway?

You're reading Gov. is always saying how bad "fast food" is. Turns out it is better for you than the school lunches they serve. Thoughts???
