    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Jack Kilby of Texas Instruments and Robert Noyce of Fairchild Semiconductor are credited with inventing the computer chip in 1958. The two inventors were not working together, but developed similar chips. Noyce came up with his version of the chip about six months after Jack Kilby.
