Oh, with Bon. Bon had charisma. Those cheeky eyes. ANd his voice had character. IMO Brian is good, but he screams. I just love "Jailbreak"- "And he made it out....with a bullet in his back".

IT WAS ORIGINALLY BON SCOTT THAT GAVE AC/DC THEIR ROUGH VOCAL EDGE, HOWEVER WE HAVE TO NOTE THAT AC/DC WERE NOT AS MASSIVE AS THEY ARE NOW, SURE THEY WERE EMERGING AS A"GREAT BAND" WITHOUT BRIAN JOHNSON AC/ DC WOULD HAVE NEVER GAINED THE RESPECT THAT THEY NOW HAVE.THUS BRIAN JOHNSON DEFINATELY HAS A EDGE OVER BON COTT FOR TWO REASONS: FIRST HE WAS A REPLACING VOCALIST AND THAT USUALLY NEVER WORKS OUT AND SECOND THE ENORMOUS PRESSURE HE HANDLED WHILE TakinG OVER BONS JOB.THINK OF IT THIS WAY IF BON COTT WAS THE REPLACING VOCALIST COULD HE HAVE DONE THE THINGS THAT BRIAN JOHNSON DID? THIS IS THE SAME REASON WHY I'D SAY LOOKING AT HOW THINGS WORKEED OUT FOR AC/DC BRIAN IS BETTER THEN BON SCOTT, HOWEVER BON SCOTT IS A LEGEND IN HIS OWN WAYS.

Equally as good, AC/DC owes most of it's success to Angus Young. Angus ROCKS! I don't think it is fair or necessary to choose Scott or Johnson as better than the other. Just two different singers bringing their own style. May Bon Scott rest in peace. Long live AC/DC!

Well being alive and rocking when Bon Scott was I would have to say Bon but Brian Johnson grew on me because he never tried to imitate Bon but brought his own style to the band.

They were a nastier, more dangerous band. But, a better one? I don't think so. Back In Black is probably in the top three of all hard rock CDS ever and Brian Johnson was the singer then.

Bon scott by far the reasoning for this is he had character that Johnson has but not like bon's thats for sure. Besides most rock bands did better with their original respective lead singers besides maybe pink floyd being one exception which isn't to say that Barrett couldn't front this extraordinary band his mind just wouldn't let that happen due to the wide array of drugs and his already problematic psychological illness.

No doubt in my mind AC/DC would not have reached the hights they have without the song writing and general stage prescence of Bon. Bon joined AC/DC just as they were being noted and forged their song writing and performances untill his death. His lyrics on Powerage are pure gold and it is no coincidance that AC/DC dipped in the early 8o's. A far more complex question to answer would be how long would Bon and AC/DC ben to-gether if he hadn't died ?

I like Brian era AC/DC (of course), but Bon was more of a character, had a better voice, was a great and under-rated lyricist, and just had that feral glint in his eye.

I prefer the songs of the Bon Scott era. And his voice was more interestng than Brian's scratchy vocals.
