Help answer this question below.
Turtles are reptiles and they hatch from eggs. Some turtles spend almost their entire life in the sea, while others live only on land. There are approximately 250 species of turtles and seven main groups. About 50 species live north of Mexico in North America. Turtle eggs are fertilized within the female's body and are mostly laid between late spring and late autumn. The number of eggs turtles lay varies depending on the species. Turtles can lay from one to as many as 200 eggs at a time. Turtles can live in several different places like deserts, forests, lakes, ponds, rivers, the sea, marshes and grasslands. Turtles cannot remain active in cold weather so land turtles bury themselves under rotting vegetation and freshwater turtles choose the muddy bottom of a body of water during hibernation. All turtles lay their eggs on land. The female digs a hole, lays the eggs and covers the hole with soil, rotting plant matter or sand.Geography
