While each airline has its own rules about what you can take on board one of its flights, the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) issues strict rules about how much liquid you can take onto any flight. Put most of your liquids in your checked baggage. There are no restrictions on how much liquid you include in your checked luggage, though airport security reserves the right to go through your baggage at random and remove anything suspicious. The TSA allows each person to bring one 3.4-ounce bottle of liquids on board, enclosed in a small resealable bag provided at the security checkpoint. Security should allow you to take certain liquids--such as urgent medication, breast milk and baby formula--aboard with you even if they exceed 3.4 ounces. At the security gate, declare them to security personnel for inspection. After you go through security, you may purchase beverages at the airport stores and restaurants and carry them onto the plane. The TSA recommends that you place all bottles into one bag and separate them from the rest of your luggage before putting it through the security check so security staff can check it without hassle.
