Chris Brown is a an R&B singer, songwriter and actor who released his first album in 2005. Brown has received and won nominations for several awards for his music, but his career has suffered since his involvement with a scandal in 2009. Brown was born on May 5, 1989, in Tappahannock, Virginia, according to Biography.com. As of February 2010, Brown had two number-one hits in the U.S., "Run It!" and "Kiss Kiss." Other singles by Brown that have reached the Billboard charts include "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)," "Gimme That," "Say Goodbye," "Wall to Wall" and "Forever." For 2005, Brown was nominated for Grammy Awards in the category of Best New Artist and Best R&B Contemporary Album. That year, Brown won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding New Artist and a Teen Choice Award for Best Male Breakout Artist. Chris Brown has appeared in the films "Stomp in the Yard" and "This Christmas." In 2009, Chris Brown was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend at the time, Rihanna.
