Help answer this question below.
I have become very synical of politics, it all seems to be so selfserving for the people in power, not for the people.
A significant portion is spin / distortion, or as I call it, strategically misrepresenting the facts. Once elected a politician spends most of their time spinning / distorting / misrepresenting the truth / lies so they can get re-elected. It is all about self preservation. I have never met one I would trust with as much as the Sunday offering.....
The Republican agenda, in its entirety, is based on spin/distortion. I don't think there's anyone out there anymore who wants what's best for the people and the country. Today, it's every man for himself
99.99999% spin
But such is necessary unfortunately to counter the B.S. the nattering naybobs of negativism insist upon.
Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
I'm reasonably assured all agendas are based on what the person with the agenda views as best for the country and its people. The disagreement is over what is best.
You speak as if the two were incompatible. Most politicians start out with generally good intentions. They want to do good for the country. All right, whey want to be well paid and admired which doing good, but they have the best of intentions. But they very soon learn that if you are brutally honest, you can only satisfy a tiny number of people - too few to get elected. The absolutely truthful drop out at this point. But those left in shade their answers. Nothing as crude as lying, just choosing the interpretation of the truth goes down best in the current company. And all in the bes possible cause: so that you can get elected and save the country from those bastards in the other party.
Spin and distortion are caused by trying to do the best for the country.
that depends on the POLITICIAN individually ....and they are all so selfserving ,partial , that not many are found today that are FOR the PEOPLE ....
'we the people' choose and make PARTIAL , immature, unreasonable, unfair, CHOICES...

Thank you for your answer Pattie and Happy Tuesday to you. :) Unfortunately I totally agree with you. In "the olden days" I thought differently but I was probably wearing blinders then. I have come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter who "wins", which side of the political spectrum is in power, they all do or don't do exactly the same things and you're right...what they do is self-serving and what they neglect is the people.:(
