No unless its the right size.
you can transfer the data to an external drive of appropriate size via USB if the old computer is still working,and then from the external drive via USB to the laptop, or, if not, you can attach the old drive to a set of external cables and then transfer via USB. One we have used is Insixt ( for ide/sata) which supports Windows and Mac OS. There are others of course. Make sure you get one that will work with your old drive interface ( IDE or SATA) if both options are not listed on the box. Try Amazon.
Another option, if the old computer is still working is a Tornado cable - modern version of Laplink
