And in full context:
1 Timothy 1 (NIV)
15Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. 17Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
18Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, 19holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith. 20Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.
Chapter 2
1I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time. 7And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.
Our Father in Heaven has called prophets since the time of Adam. Although opinions and teachings of God's church have varied throughout the years in relation to the culture in which it has been immersed, there are certain teachings labeled -doctrine- which don't change, for God's laws do not change.
Having a living prophet at the head of a fully restored church is a central point of doctrine discussed thoroughly in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Christ plays our Mediator during judgment day. However, part of the ordeal of coming to earth is to not be in the physical presence of Christ or Our Father. He has provided a mouthpiece for the dispensations through the current prophet.

You're reading LDS: 1 Timothy 2:5: 'For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.' So why do we need a Living Prophet?
Comments
Thank you for the LdS dogma spew. Now once again the question is:
"LDS: 1 Timothy 2:5: 'For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.' So why do we need a Living Prophet?"
Read it again: 'For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.'
The Bible clearly states that Christ Jesus IS our Living Prophet thus making Thomas S. Monson redundant.

So how does the LdS Church justify attempting to usurp Christ's authority by creating an unBiblical and unnecessary office? Isn't this a form of Anti-Christ?
