    Asker's Pick

Selected by the asker, Ferrari_Enzo. (What's this?)

He drew his power from the people who gave him such adulation. Had the German public opposed him, he would not have been able to do what he did.

He would not have had this influence over the public had the economic conditions in Germany not been so bad. And the reason for that was the extreme reparations demanded by the Treaty of Versailles (and insisted on by the French) at the end of the first world war.

The same thing America is facing today, a liberal, charismatic socialist leader and the idiots that follow them.

End of the 1st world war happened without total defeating of the German forces and even they did not totally defeated they had to face lots of restrictions from Europian nations. Due to this reason public opinion of Germany was against these restrictions and Hitler came to power and used advantage of this public anger.

Also Italy and Japan had their own agendas of expanding their empires and they all thought they are superior nations. Their support also played a major role.

There is another aspect of this that no one has addressed yet. That aspect is the timidity of other nations in dealing with Hitler. The other signatories to the Treaty of Versailles were too scared of another war. Therefore, they were unwilling to stand up to Hitler when he started violating the provisions of the treaty. Had they been willing to go to war much sooner, then Hitler probably could have been stopped before he gained so much power.

    Sheeple.

Demagogues are quite good at telling the sheeple EXACTLY what they want to hear, to allow them the opportunity to absolve themselves of responsibility.

You will notice that the Right Wingers of America bear no small resemblance to the Nazis of Pre-WW2 Germany.

Both claim that the nation is facing a dire consequence resulting from the decadence from which it has become mired.

Both claim that their enemies are from within- Germans claimed it was the Jews, Republicans claim it's from the Liberals.

And both demanded that the citizenry give up it's rights for security.
