I will never advocate the retention and use of obvious derogatory
epithets of any kind against any group of people. I also agree that
we must show empathy and, above all, respect for everybody. However,
there's no great dignity--I believe--in being treated as though one
were thin skinned and unable to face certain realities. There's
considerable difference between being aware of and sensitive to diversity, and being crippled by it. As vocabulary becomes [regulated] by P.C., ideas become casualties in the process. Every
time we speak or right about any subject, we must hide behind the
Medusa of "diversity" and "multiculturalism," and only use passive
language and feelgood words or else "somebody's feelings get hurt."
So in summary, and with absolute honesty, this is what I think about P.C.--it's but an obnoxious bullshit cloaked in institutionalized politness which what it does, more than anything else, is to encourage people to be disingenuous; and far from creating "tolerance" is creating a world that begings to look more like a prison and have everybody walking on egg shells.
