Since so many parents are lax today, at least a 3 day suspension.
If I had done this my father would have dealt with it and I would not have been happy.
Even if the teacher had been very offensive to the child, any child of mine would know to take the proper path... come to me and I would have dealt with it. As an underage person, it would not be my child's place to break his or her manners towards an adult. It would be my job to evaluate the situation and deal with it.
I would consider giving the middle finger to be rude and an inappropriate way to handle it. There are much better ways to express your displeasure and, as I said, if the teacher was treating my child wrong, polite displeasure is what I would expect from them and for them to come to me to deal with it... and I would have.
Gingerminx said that it depends on the situation. I understand her point but I was raised differently. I was raised to not be impolite with a teacher. Now one teacher was openly racist to me and, even then, I did not use a cussword or raise a middle finger. I expressed myself in a much more concise and clear fashion. The situation wound up with my father expressing his, errr, displeasure with the school (my father being displeased was never a good thing), the teacher fired (or moved to another school, I do not know which), and my father proud of me for maintaining my manners while standing up for myself and my people.
Had I raised my middle finger to the teacher, even in that situation, my father would have taken me to task for breaking my teachings.
Oh, to this day at work I have a hard time addressing older people by their first name even when they ask for such. I just was not raised that way.
Freedom of expression.
Now if you would be so kind as to get out of my face while I flip you the bird.
That would all depend upon why they gave them the finger.
They should be suspended because it's very disrespectful and shows you lack upbringing. The punishment should be the school administration should speak to the parents about a behavior problem to determine what would cause this and
give the kid a good talking to find a resolution.:)
Cut it off
3 day, in-school suspension should work. That shows a complete lack of respect for authority.
Cut their stupid middle finger off.
Community service at a local bird sanctuary cleaning up after the feathery friends our little rebels are so fond of and suspension if they don't comply.
If a guy, they should be taken to the locker room and have their bare asses busted with a strap-a girl, suspended ror a day1
Kick him in the balls, add an additional kick for each subsequent time he does it.
wow the way some people answer you'd think that middle finger was up there "you know what" i think detention would do or in school suspension.
exclusion from school.
Why should anyone in their working environent be expected to put up with things like that?

Aris I wished more parents would be like your father was and teach their children the proper way to behave and manners. Respect seems to not exist today. Too many disrepectful kids running loose with parents who refuse to discipline. I also would love to shake your fathers hand and say thank you.

Thankyou very much Rip Van Winkle! I am most honored! I am Rromani Gypsy, parents from Romania (mother died birthing me so raised by my father).
Thankyou most kindly, Scrappy, old friend. It is very sad that the old teachings are passing. I have been described so often as "Old World" and this is not always a compliment... I take it as one.
-- Thankyou both so much for what you said about my father! That matters much to me.
