Help answer this question below.
A thrombosed hemorrhoid is a swollen vein outside the anus that has ruptured. However, hemorrhoids are a common condition and can be treated. Your physician will likely recommend home treatment as the first recourse of treatment for a thrombosed hemorrhoid. This treatment includes using a sitz bath and stool-softening medication. Your doctor will also recommend changes in your dietary and exercise habits. He will instruct you to eat foods less likely to cause constipation. Since hemorrhoids often occur after long periods of inactivity, your doctor will suggest engaging in more exercise. Icing thrombosed hemorrhoids cuts down inflammation and helps with pain management. If home treatment doesn't work, your doctor will likely recommend one of two surgical procedures. Rubber band ligation involves cutting off the hemorrhoids blood supply with a rubber band. Sclerotherapy involves injected the hemorrohoids with a chemical that prevents blood from reaching it. As a last resort, your doctor may recommend a hemorroidectomy where the hemorrhoid is cut off. You will likely stay in the hospital for a few days following this procedure.Home Care
