The Sony XEL-1 is available now and sells for a little over $2,000 but it is only 11" diagonal. In 2008 Samsung unveiled the first 40" OLED display but of course a prototype is a long way from a production model. Once substrate manufacturing issues are solved OLED displays may actually be cheaper to make than LCD displays since the actual LEDs can be 'printed' using a silk screen technique or in a process like an ink jet printer. OLED displays still face other issues, such as screen burn in, like CRTs, and limited life time of blue OLEDs. In time these issues will probably be solved however.

As for price, manufactures are aware they can't price themselves out of the market, so the early 40" OLED TV will probably not cost more than double the current price for a similar LCD TV, or whatever the market will bear. I'd still wait for the OLED lifetime issues to be improved, since LCD displays continue to improve and their lifetime is much longer. A current issue with LCD displays (TV or computer monitors) is the backlight. Most use a type of florescent lamp called a Cold Cathode Lamp which do have a limited lifetime. LED backlights are replacing CCLs even now and will likely be the only backlight used in five years time. OLED displays might be commonly available by then, so pricing battles will probably be between LCD and OLED displays.

When sony's OLED comes out I believe the 40" is speculated to be $46k. If I were you, however, I would wait a year or two until other companies adopt the technology. Once Samsung, Panasonic, Insignia, Sony and many others start selling OLED tvs the prices should drop to around $10k if not less!
