I ski and snowboard its all fun boarding was was harder for me to learn but i like the social aspect of sitting on the hill, in the terrain park, or at a jump encouraging each other and pushing our limits and laughing at our mistakes. at 50 years old it keep my mind young and my body in shape (or broken :-) i dont find that in skiing

Oh snowboarding for sure. It's harder, but it's more fun. And I live in the AK. We know snow here. I don't regularly do either, but I have done both and I definitely prefer snowboarding.

2 is way better than 1.. I live right next to Killington Mt. in VT. Boarding is popular but skiing is way more so. By the way Killington Ski Area got 6 inches of snow today

I would say skiing but i haven't been snowboarding so I guess I don't know what that is like. I use to ski all the time and loved it, then I broke my ankle twice (not skiing) and kinda put an end to it.

    I would say skiing because
    a) if there is a not so steep slope, a border has to walk it-
    b) its harder to get on a t-bar

however-- snowboarding boots are way comfier! =]

This question highly depends on the person. I snowboard and I love it to death it is what I'm always looking forward to. Me and my skiing friend switched for a day, and we both bruised just about every inch of our body, but it was still great fun. I am a snowboarder so snowboarding is what I reccommend.

I have been snowboarding about 8 months now and have never been skiing.
I have to say snowboarding is a lot of effort, my only trip was to France (I live in England, and go to a indoor real snow slope about once a month) and the mountain wasn't all that snowboard friendly. There was a lot of flat-ish areas that I had to unstrap and push on. Despite this I do think that snowboarding is a lot more thrilling and in some ways extreme, as well as being a lot more suited to freestyle (I can do 180's now and my mate, who has been skiing about 6 years can't :D).
Sometimes I do get a bit angry seeing all the skiers traverse the slopes so effortlessly and fast, as well as using the drag lift at the indoor slope easily, but then I see the snowboarders doing 180's and 360's and really imaginative tricks off all the little humps, and I think: soon that will be me.
To sum it up I think that they both have their merits.
Skiing is suited to people that want to learn fast and be able to ski on the mountain with ease, after all skiing is a much more natural way to go down the slope.
    but
Snowboarding is more suited to people that don't mind falling over and hurting themselves in order to be able to look good on the mountain, and be able to do cool tricks :D.

(I would advise though, if you live in England, go to an indoor slope and have a lesson. Just to see which one you prefer :D)

If you can afford to get out there a lot you might want to ski the first time but switch to snowboarding on your second or third trip. skiing will help you get used to the mountain and everything but once you learn you cant do very much more than just ride without a pair of double tipped skis. snowboaroding is definately the way to go. and most importantly do not give up. it will be challeging even to stand up on your boarc at first but in enough time youll be doin some steezy shit.

    It is very subjective.
I do both, and which one I choose dependson the current condions of snow.
I prefer snowboard if there is a fresh deep snow, whereas skies are more fun on the steep frozen slopes. You can go much faster on the skies and have a freedom of movement with both legs. You are pretty 'stuck' on the snowboard, however,it is easier to do the funky twists and turn. Love both!

It depends if your an extreme sport kind of guy. Are you a strong, athletic thrill seeker or do you just wanna have a little fun in the snow. Snowboarding is more for the extreme, thrill seekers. I mean come on, how many 45 year-old snowboarders are there and how many 45 year old skiers are there.
