  • I would have to say no since it has the potential to clog your pores. Depending on your skin type, this can lead to acne breakouts. Perhaps this works for some people, but I recommend sticking to using a moisturizer that is specifically meant to be used on the face.

    Yes!!! A resounding YES!!

I have used VPJ since I was a teenager. My mom used to wet her hands and rub some VPJ on them. She said it sealed the water (moisture) into her skin. She always has the softest hands.

I also read once that while Marilyn Monroe wore Chanel #5 to bed, Eartha Kitt always wore VPJ to bed from head to toe! And look at Eartha Kitt now. I saw her in the movie HOLES recently and she looked amazing.

I've spent 100s of dollars on moisturizers and skin care products because my friends said VPJ was bad for the skin. That's just not true! When I had moles removed, the surgeon even recommended it for the scars. When my husband had a crack in his heel the Dr recommended VPJ as a protector and moisturizer. Now my skin care in cetaphil to cleanse, witch hazel to tone and VPJ to moisturize. Once a week I mix cetaphil with baking soda to exfoliate or I use a Japanese scrub brush on my body. Bu always VPJ to hold the moisture in. I do splurge on Avene sunblock to protect.

Back to basics babies! that's what it's all about. Save your money for designer bags!

Nooo. It isn't good for mosturizing the face. It's very thick and greasy. It can be used on the body but I seriously don't recommend it for the face. It tends to clog your pores and can sometimes even cause acne.

It's great for dry skin, but it may be a bit much for a face moisturizer, unless you have really dry skin. It could cause excess oil on your face, which could lead to acne.

I would say once in awhile-a dabble to treat your skin...I've heard of some putting some on their feet or hands and then socks and mittens and going to bed and then when you wake up in the morning your skin is soft and lovely! I would say it's fine on your face but as with everything, it could go a long way and it's also rather goopey. Vaseline intensive care makes a cream product for your face as well.

Petroleum jelly is a petroleum product. Good for cars and mechanical things, not for your skin. That is not to say that it won't form a protective coating over your skin that might be helpful under extreme weather conditions. It will. But as a daily moisturizer, all it will do is clog your pores and cause you skin problems. Use products containing natural, non-hydrogenated oils like walnut, almond, olive, vitamin E, and so on. Avoid putting petroleum on your skin!

I think so. But A&D is better because of the vitamins and fish oil in it. I rub it on in a thin layer and let it sit while I deep condition my hair. What isn't absorbed I wipe off with a tissue and if my face still feels greasy I will wash with a mild non drying face soap. My face always feels super soft after, and can definatly see a difference the next morning. I naturally have terrible skin (very oily when I was in school, now it's very very dry) so i'm glad I found something that works!

I use petroleum jelly for my face from time to time. I put it on my face at night and sleep on my back to assure it stays on. Then I was my face with Aveno facial wash and then use Aveno dry skin lotion. I only use the petroleum jelly like once every two weeks or even just once a month or whenever I really need it in between and I feel it works wonders.

Since petroleum jelly is an oily substance, it will probably cause break outs. It's best when used as a lip balm (and cheaper than buying chapstick). In the event of a cold, you can rub it on your nostrils when they get dry from all the nose-blowing, and you don't have to worry about breaking out because zits usually don't form there.

Alot of people belive that Vaseline will clog pores but that is a MYTH. Vaseline WILL NOT clog your pores! It is non-comedegenic like face lotions are. It rates a 0 on the comedegenic scale meaning it is impossible for the molecules to enter pores because they are too large. Safe for face! Makes skin ooo so soft, love it! Fast to remove eye makeup and doesn't burn and great for healthier lashes ;)

VPJ is a wonder for your face. I saw a woman on tv that was 90 years old and had the most remarkable skin. She has used it her whole adult life. Then just recently I saw Patti Labelle doing an interview, someone asked her about her beautiful skin and she admitted that she used VPJ as a night cream. She is 60 years old and her skin is just beautiful!

I use it and love it, though, I have extrememly dry skin. I only use it at night, it's definitely to greasy-looking for daytime wear, unless you will be home all day. Others have always told me that this is horrible, and it will clog my pores. I had zits before I used it, I still have them, but whenever I use the petroleum jelly, they get better! I don't know how or why, my doctor has even told me that the jelly will clog my pores, but I still do it. I love it, and it works for me.

I am with the old timers here, my dad use to use this on my face daily; and so Do my kids, my kids were not using a heavy moisturizer and now they have wind burn, so inside my vasaline I use sesame oil and sweet almond oil with vitamin e and it isn't as thick and stays all day with a natural shine. The wind burn has been soothed. I think it is best to wash/rinse the face then apply vasaline mix to lock in the moisture. People who have bad acne, will have it until they have a proper skin care regimen. I have never had an issue with acne and I am 31 and people still think I am a teenager, thanks Vasaline. If it was to be used for cars the wouldn't make it for our skin. SOme people get all high society and feel they are bigger and better than. BUT a Vaseline and Sweet Almond & Sesame oil mix is the way to go, mix until medium consistency. You put a little in your hand rub together and play special attention to cheeks and under you eyes and your in for a intensive winter guard and keeps the moisture in.

actually, yes it is THE MOST AMAZING moisturizer and i use it every night!! i used to have acne problems, but since i started using it my acne has cleared right up. the other day, someone asked me how my skin looks like "a little baby's" (his words) and my answer was simple: petroleum jelly, or vaseline. it is AH-MAZING. the only thing is it makes your hair get greasy a bit earlier, but my solution is to tie all the strands around my face back, leaving the rest down, and problem solved!! i highly reccomend it to everyone, and, if you dont believe me- i urge you to TRY IT. us it for a couple of nights after washing your face and the results speak for themselves- they are truly MIRACULOUS, unbelievable, and life-changing.

i use petroleum jelly to clean my eye make up. i usually wet a lil cotton pad and rub a liltle amount of petroleum jelly and clean my eyes. abert i make sure that i clean it very well that there my eyes are no more greasy, then i wash my face with my face cleanser and moisturize before sleeping.'

now , can any one please add to my comment, is it good or bad to use it as eyes make up removal??

    thanks

It has good effects on the skin, but it is by no means good for you. i would not recommend it, use something natural.

I'm not sure, but I think it would clog your pores. However if you do a lot of swimming or are outside in the wind a lot, it can provide a good barrier to protect your skin.
