    Great Answer

    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

If you find mysterious little black pellets lying around in your fridge, you could have one of a few problems. Upon some inspection, the problem may become easier to identify, however you may end up needing to call a professional.

    Is It Food?

Inspect to see if it is food that spilled out of its container in the fridge. Does any food in the fridge look like dark pellets, such as peppercorns or chocolate jimmies? Do not test this theory by tasting the pellets.

    Are They Insects?

Inspect the pellets closely to see if they are insects. It's possible that ants or other bugs have gotten into your fridge, attracted to the food, and some of them died--leaving what may appear to be black pellets at first sight.

    Is It Mouse Feces?

Mouse feces look like little black pellets. See if any bags or containers in the fridge have been chewed. This activity would leave some evidence of tiny shreds of chewed-up plastic in the fridge, which would support the mouse theory.

    A Fridge Breach

If you conclude that the black pellets are either insects or mouse feces, then there is likely a breach in the security of your fridge.

    Call a Professional

A breach tiny enough to allow entry to mice or insects will be difficult to find on your own. It may be a good idea to call a professional repairman or even an exterminator. If vermin are getting into your fridge, your food could be contaminated.

It is evidence that a mouse crawled into your refrigerator to get a little snack and then had and "accicent".
