The first number (the thousands slot) can be one of 4 numbers, 8, 6, 4, or 1.
The hundreds slot then has one of three number left over.
Next the tens position has one of 2 numbers to choose from.
The ones position has what's left.
The solution is 4 factorial or 4!. 4 X 3 X 2 X 1 = 24 separate 4 digit numbers.
