    My experience, and that of others (according to my wife's discussions with her girlfriends) is that sexual frequency drops precipitously after the woman goes through menopause (average age = 51), as at that time she loses not only most of her estrogen, but also her progesterone, from which she can make testosterone, the driver of sexual interest. That has been my experience with my wife as well: sexual frequency dropped significantly after she stopped her monthly cycles.

    In our 40s (prior to menopause), we probably had sex maybe 30 or 35 times per year. I would have liked to have it more often, of course, but my wife's sexual drive never has matched mine (we've been married for over 30 years).

    For me, it was at least 3 times a week. If it is important to have sex, you will find the time.
