Methylin is sometimes used to treat depressive disorder in people who have developed the symptoms because of another illness but cannot take antidepressants, according to the Mayo Clinic. Patients using Methylin should see improvement in their condition within about a month, and Medline Plus recommends contacting a doctor if symptoms do not improve or if they worsen in this time.
