Microsoft's Zune... Please, don't by a RCA Lyra RD2780. I had one and the buttons break off easy. I use it now as a backup hard drive (20GB).

one of those samsung ipod copies.

The Sandisk Sansa e200 series is a nice substitute for the ipod nano. The Creative Zen V (or V plus for video) would also work well as a nano substitute (& it's smaller than the Sansa e200). Read through the reviews on http://www.amazon.com & check out the forums at http://www.epizenter.net and http://www.anythingbutipod.com Also, there's a new player coming out in summer 2007 that looks cool, called slacker - http://www.slacker.com If you want large capacity (i.e. 30gb+) instead of a 2 to 8gb flash player, then check out the zune and zen vision:m

Are you looking for something simple, so you can record radio podcasts plus songs and take them everywhere? Well, I recommend my Creative Zen Nano. It is cheap and does exactly what I want. It comes with software that makes it very simple to burn songs from a CD to the computer and then they are easy to transfer to the unit. It has a very nice LCD display. Take a look: http://us.creative.com/products/products.asp?category=213&subcategory=&product=11518 If you are looking for video units, Creative has some models available too.

There's the Zune and Creative's Nomad, but I'm curious - why non-ipod? I love mine, my wife loves hers.

http://www.buy.com/prod/Sony_NWS703FP_Pink_1GB_MP3_Player_w_Noise_Canceling_Headphones/q/loc/101/204575558.html?adid=17260&s_kwcid=&dcaid=17260 I had one similar and worked well till someone gifted me an iPod nano, now I see why people like them - still too expensive in my opinion though. USB MP3 players seem to work best in my opinion.

I think the Zunes are cute, but watch out: they say you can get songs from other people, but you only get them for three plays or a certain number of days. Also, not a lot of people have Zunes to share with...

creative zen nano, i didnt break it, i would use i more than my ipod

Creative is a very good brand!
-
Well I like creative, and I own a zune. The zune is good for watching movies (great screen quality) but if you're going for straight MP3/song playback, grab something by sandisk, their cheap and effective.

i think iphone would be a good choice.

Creative Zen or Zune I would say Zune if you want to watch movies A LOT, you can watch it on some Zens, but Zune is more comfortable after several hours. Creative zen has some cheap ones, that zen stone and zen stone plus. Their products are useful and in my opinion better than others I have tried. The ZVM isn't a bad choice with the 60GB. It's less GB than apple, but tons more features. More colours on your videos, easy navigation, and plenty of useful functions. Zen Stone is small and portable. It's like a little pebble, the surface is smooth, but the material feels a bit cheap. You'll need a case or cover for it since you can scratch it easily without meaning to. There's that wonderful next folder button. The zen stone plus comes with a little screen which is handy and 1 GB more (2 GB)
