    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Bunk beds can be hazardous to children. Every year, thousands of children go to the emergency room because of bunk beds accidents, including falling off the bed, but some children have died due to unsafe beds. The Consumer Product Safety Commission warns that improper guardrails or incorrectly sized mattresses are dangerous.

    Legend In Your Own Mind

My brother and I slept on bunk beds our entire childhoods from shortly after birth till we moved out on our own and neither of us ever got hurt on one.
The worse thing that ever happened was I once put our new dog on the top bunk with me and it crapped on my pillow while I was sleeping.. That dog learned to fly instantly and I learned how to take instant showers.

One time when I was little I was about to go to Disney World and the bunk bed fell on me. So they are only safe if you know how to hook it up right.
