Chili is an excellent, easy thing to prepare for Super Bowl Sunday food. It requires very little cooking, can sit on the stove for most of the game and still be hot, fresh and delicious. The best thing about chili is that you can put it on many different snacks, like chips and pieces of bread, or add different items such as cheese, onions and crackers. Chili should be available throughout the game to tide people over before the big meal is served.
Salsa is another great Super Bowl Sunday party food. You can buy it at the grocery store, Ttake the top off of and serve with chips. However, the best salsa is homemade, with fresh peppers, tomatoes or tomatillos, onion and cilantro. People can chow down on the salsa and chips and alleviate their hunger, keeping them in the room and concentrated on the game. Chips and salsa can be placed directly on the coffee table in front of the game, so attention won't be diverted from the action on the television.
A regional cuisine, which should spread everywhere, queso is a step up from salsa, in both deliciousness and unhealthiness. Salsa, homemade or otherwise, is mixed together with Velveeta or another easily meltable cheese and heated in a crock pot. This is then eaten with chips or vegetables or whatever you want to dip into the spicy, tasty mix. Because queso requires a Crockpot to serve it properly, you will probably have to leave the room to serve yourself. And be warned: Once you start eating good queso, it is hard to stop.
